March 2014 Winter California USA Winter’s Broadband Tower still working despite fuel shortage from Mudslide Emergencies. Years ago as a fuel conservation strategy, Winter’s Broadband President Brian Horn installed a superwind on one of the company’s transmission towers – typically powered by diesel electric. When devastating mudslides hit the region many of the companies towers ran out of diesel, but the tower with a superwind stayed up and running despite the loss of the diesel gen-set. Winters is now installing more turbines on its remote towers!
